Past 2023 President’s Message

As I write my final message as your President for 2023, it has been my honor to serve you for the past 12 months. Why? Because of all of you!

As a member for the past four years and a board member for. three years, I have seen the club’s growth and many accomplishments. We all may have joined for different reasons, but one theme that is common is we all wanted a sense of community. A community of women, and nothing or no one will change our bond. It’s strong. We are a determined group of individuals with diverse vocations, and it was a pleasure to work alongside you. We’ve had our fair share of ups and downs, but what family doesn’t? And that’s exactly what we are, a family of sisters bound by a common thread of helping our community.

We set the bar high and each of you rose to the occasion with many completed tasks and donations. I will highlight these at our November meeting: “A look back to spring forward”.

As you know, the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) has identified seven Community Service Programs (CSP’s). We have six CSP’s because we put Domestic & Sexual Violence under Civic Engagement. Our Community Service Programs are: 1) Advocates for Children, 2) Arts and Culture, 3) Civic Engagement and Outreach, 4) Education and Libraries, 5) Environment, and 6) Health and Wellness. CSP’s are the programs that members participate in with projects to serve our community. It’s the key philanthropic part of our club. Not all CSP’s must raise money. Many activities can be to simply raise awareness for our members and the community. Membership matters, so as you fill out your 2024 membership form, think about stepping out and up to be one of our CSP chairs for 2024.

Don’t think you are a leader? Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “EVERYONE IS A LEADER EVERY DAY. A good leader inspires people to have confidence in the leader. A great leader inspires people to have confidence in themselves.” - Eleanor Roosevelt, author, politician, and diplomat.

Again, I want to express my sincere gratitude to each of you for your service and dedication this past year. Cheers to many more years as a Laguna Niguel Woman’s Club member!

I started the year with a theme “Be the Light” don’t forget, we want to shine a light of hope in our community and beyond. Be a light to those around you.

Be a source of LOVE and CARE you are hoping to receive from others- Bonnie H. Cordon.

Sincerely,

Rosemarie Fernandez, Past President (2023)
